Take 5 – Ercos Blanka

Ercos Blanka

We had a chat with Ercos Blanka about his upcoming release on Seven Villas; ‘Classic Trick’, his own influences & more. Check out what he had to say below.

Hey Ercos, thanks for chatting with us. What can you tell us about your upcoming release on Seven Villas?

The upcoming album was crafted during the last year and was made on purpose for Seven Villas. It was the first project made ever in my brand new studio so I’m very happy that Pablo loved it and decided to release it.

How does it feel to have your music released on such reputable labels like Pablo Bolivar’s Seven Villas and Kerri Chandler’s Madtech?

Working together with artists that I always liked and the labels that I have always followed is like a dream come true, but still this will not stop the hard work in the studio and the constant passion for music.

How would you describe your sound?

Everyone feels the music in its personal way, in my opinion my sound is very melancholic…but I’m looking forward to knowing what the other people feel listening to my album.

Who would you say is the biggest influence on your music?

My uncle. When I was 7 he gifted me a guitar and opened the doors to a complete new universe for me…and I have to say, that completely changed my life. So..thank you uncle!

What is your approach to making music? Do you start a track with an idea in mind or are you more improvisational?

I usually start from an idea and slowly, during the composition, the improvisation comes and I let it do the rest.

Analogue or digital?

Both, I like doing some part of the work in analog and some other in digital. I don’t take any side in this evergreen battle on digital vs analog.

What’s your favourite piece of kit and why?

Access Virus C: it let me do a bit of anything that I need. From a kick to a pad I could literally make a complete track on that with amazing quality and precision. I especially loves his arpeggiator, filter and envelope.

What release of your own is most special to you?

Definitely this album on Seven Villas. After this latest year of hard work I gained a new artistic consciousness and this album is a demonstration of it.

What can we expect from you for the rest of the year?

I’m building up the basis for the next year: I’m already working on some new project that will see the light in the early 2019

What 3 records do you always keep in your bag?

Oxia – Whole life (Original Mix)

James Holden – A Break In The Clouds (Main Mix)

Cagedbaby – Hello There (Radio Slave Remix)

‘Ercos Blanka – Classic Trick’ is out 09/11 on Seven Villas.
