Luhk – Peças e Pessoas EP [Quality Vibe Records]
The Italian label Quality Vibe Records returns with another 12”, a four-tracker EP titled “Peças e Pessoas” signed by the Portuguese DJ and producer Luhk. With a catalogue that includes names like Rick Wade, Paolo Tocci, Thomas Wood, Daniele Temperilli, Tommy Vicari Jnr, Pavel Iudin or Christian Lisco, to name just a few, the record label brings forward an authentic sound that incorporates house rhythms and various exotic flavours.
Pedro Lopes Avelino aka Luhk is a veteran of house and minimal music in Portugal and his productions and DJ sets are vibrant compositions, blending pumping beats and intricate textures. After the successful release of Scenario #8 EP at Sebo K’s notorious imprint Scenario, Luhk presents another groovy musical adventure in the form of “Peças e Pessoas EP”. With three original tracks and a remix by Dj Honesty included, this wax is designed for dancing and is available only on 180g vinyl starting early September.
A1, titled “Cenas De Gajo”, opens the disc in an uplifting note, with a classic house sound that incorporates a crisp and powerful percussion, electric pads and deep background textures. With a pumping rhythm, it introduces the next cut titled “Zé Aleatório”. With a wobbling bassline and glitched effects, this track has some minimal influences. The vocal cuts that flow over the core sounds present the concept and the title while adding more dimension and mystery.
On the flipside we find “Madame Frequência”, a deep take that unfolds a hypnotic rhythm, designed with glitched elements and long pads that roll with the exotic percussion. Dj Honesty takes the track into the realm of tech house on the remix, adding a powerful bassline and pumping percussion. Vocal samples are also added to increase the tension of the cut and the long pads are tunned and modulated to fit this version.
