ZXC – Roman EP [Eliptic Records]

Here is the second Ltd. edition release from Eliptic Records, a vinyl-only Romanian label founded in late 2016, headed by Fengda Carissa and Julian. Releasing records by Mihigh, GIAS (Julian & Andrei Stoian), Timofti, Julian and Fengda, the label’s upright endeavours are bringing forth both established and debuting artists. ELIPLTD002 comes from ZXC, an elusive producer, by all accounts a Mexican artist, whose previous EPs were out on labels such as Simple Things, GV Sound and Ensis Black.

Torabora, the track seizing the whole A side, carries a light, airy vibe, unfolding like a vintage sonic toybox, a bright miniature carousel whose intricate mechanisms you can feel rather than see. The B side starts with Roman, the track which lends its title to this EP, is a groovy spin into fields of lofty ridges and deep gaps which develop as reverberating effects. Room closes the EP in a harmonious yet sombre state, a track which will leave you meditating, in a sweet state of attunement.
