Louis Dauvergne – Starfish Island EP [Copie Blanche]
French DJ and producer Louis Dauvergne drops the first solo EP from a series of releases referenced as CBF by the Paris based Copie Blanche family. After his appearance with “Starfish” on the Parisian imprint’s first VA compilation titled “Beats Around The Bush” in 2016, Louis returns with Starfish Island EP, a collection of four groovy tracks and one interlude. Shaped around deep and funky house music and flavoured with exotic rhythms and jazzy vibes, the release is a tribute to the famous GTA Vice City video game.
The EP unfolds as an energetic journey, blending dynamic percussions, funky basslines and subtle jazz infused cuts, to which elegant lo-fi filters are added on some layers, delivering a charming grittiness to the sounds. Opening Side-A there’s “Cheetah” setting the uplifting pace of this release in a funky note, a vibe that is transferred to A2, “Stinger”, an alluring fusion of house and jazz elements. Last on this side, the melancholic mood of “Loading…” is set to be a short reflection upon a minimalistic yet graceful composition.
Flipping the disc reveals “Comet”, a punchy rhythm that can make any dancefloor shake as the track starts off with an empowering vocal sample that makes the track flow with intensity and “Infernus”, a deep take with rolling sounds.
