Various Artists – Bad Barbie Tools Vol. 1 [Bad Barbie Records]
Bad Barbie Records, originally from Miami Beach, is an electronic music record label founded in December 2013 by the Colombian Toby Holguin and the Chilean Aldo Cadiz and is managed by Gabriel Guallart. The imprint is focused on releasing deep tech, minimal and groovy techno and house music.
On this VA the label presents a flamboyant mixture of artists and sounds so both sides roll like fire! In charge of the rhythms, we find Sander Ellerman, the second half of Jelly Beast Recordings and local talents Dubphone, Herck and Xandru. An amazing release that features 4 top quality pieces from super talented artists, Bad Barbie Tools Vol. 1 is a must-have!
On the A side for the first track, we have Sander Ellerman‘s work “Far Away From Home“, a fantastic underground and trippy take that presents a perfect combination of rhythmic grooves and ambience elements that take you for a ride as the record spins. The second track from this side titled “Whateveristic“, comes from the talented Romanian artist Dubphone, who smartly managed to create a subtle track with an exquisite club sound that has strength, great arrangements and a true hypnotic vibe.
On the flipside, B1 features Herck, who worked perfectly on “Miraj“, articulating different synth elements over an underlying layer of percussive sounds that constantly brings up the mood, reminding us of a great sunrise like moment, but never leaving the expected craziness behind. The second track is Xandru‘s “Peste Tont“, a mind-blowing cut that takes you deep down and then back up with ease, with a truly exciting rhythm filled with syncopated percussion and melodic delights, as only he can perform.
