David Nicolas, Barac – Maloma EP [Kusi Records]

David Nicolas – Maloma EP (incl Barac remix) [Kusi Records]

Founded in 2015 in Mannheim, Germany, Kusi Records went off to a decent start in 2016 with the release of Maloma EP by David Nicolas. Since then, the label released works from Fabe & Toby T, Tolga Top, Durrrred and Sedee, including remixes by Barac, Cezar, Federico Molinari, Zendid and Arapu, thus leaving its mark on the underground music scene.

David Nicolas is a prolific producer and DJ, enjoying releases at labels such as 87 RecordsNeostrictly, Valioso Recordings, Medeia Records and Malonian. Together with Sebastian Werle, he started the Sedee project, Germany’s best-kept secret and steady answer to the last eight years of electronic music pouring out of Romania, providing feedback to the happenings in the global scene. Sedee has joined festivals like Sonus in Croatia, Mekitburn Festival in Belgium and Waha Festival in Romania. Like this was not enough, the two started another project, forming the trio Msdeep, together with Marc Philipp.

Side A features the original track, ‘Maloma‘, a groovy and seductive sequence, with syncopated percussion and deep vocal cuts here and there, that evolves into a steady and balanced rhythm. The spacey tones emphasise the minimal take on the theme throughout the track, revealing a complex sound design. On Side B we find Barac on the Remix, who takes the original track into a morphing journey, with long-delayed pads and atmospheres. The constant progression of the ambient sounds, together with the wobbly and punchy bassline, flows into an elegant rhythm, perfect for any dancefloor.
