Ac$ – Skipping Stone EP [Sakskøbing]

Moscow based record label Sakskøbing, presents its fifth release, Skipping Stone EP, who features Aaron Carlson a.k.a. Ac$, a mysterious but prolific producer and Dj from Portland, USA. Releasing various EPs under its own label Track 29 Records and the more underground O.C.D. – Open Channel for Dreamers imprint, he is also present in Banoffee Pies Records‘ catalogue.

Playing records since 1994, over the years he gained more insight and knowledge about electronic music and started to work and experiment with analogue samplers, synths and drum machines to create his own works. With sounds coming from various genres and sub-genres of house, funk, jazz and disco music, Aaron’s personal touch on mixing and producing music adds a deep and techy vibe to his compositions or Dj sets.

Skipping Stone EP features 5 groovy tracks, a carousel of funky sounds with elegant analogue rhythms, building up from a deep and atmospheric mood on Side A to a more uptempo tone on Side B. Cuz I Know You and Key Therapy are more deep and melancholic in nature, with vocal elements supporting the flamboyant rhythms and a funky grip that grows in intensity on Feel The Funk Dunk, where it explodes into a full flavoured layer of guitar strings, making this track perfect for dancing at any times. Canada is a mesmerizing addition to the whole, it’s wobbly and acid presence giving away the fact that Aaron really owns electronic music making. Closing the Ep is Lsb, an avalanche of drum programming that plays like a journey back in time, to the era of old-school house and breaks, where the roots of the Detroit sound began to grow. This EP is sure to provide excellent times in the hands of skilled DJs and people who enjoy quality music as well.
