Vlad Dinu – Other Way Around EP

Vlad Dinu – Other Way Around EP

Vlad Dinu is one of the more underground DJs in the underground Romanian music scene. He doesn’t speak too much and lets the music do that for him. Having played alongside Piticu, Prâslea or Cezar, he is a master of the warm-up sounds everybody needs and in this latest release, he goes towards a more dance floor oriented approach while remaining true to his sound.

Vlad Dinu - Other Way Around

“Our mission is to try our best in creating an audio environment in which hopefully, more than one human sense will be provoked.”

That is the goal of Synesthesia, the very young record label based in London which is home for Vlad Dinu for this release. These are some pretty high standards that they imposed on themselves and they plan to deliver. While they organized different parties with Romanian guests in London in the past, this is their first vinyl-only release.

Inwards and Outwards introduces us gently and with calm into this EP and it certainly has a more atmospheric feeling to it. A classy and linear bass line flows all over this one and the tranquility only gets you pumped for what’s next.

292 certainly lacks the tidiness of the first one and a more chaotic feeling comes to the surface, but it is a carefully orchestrated chaos here and you’ll get your feet moving soon enough. Some playful bass lines create a sense of pure happiness and you can sense Vlad had fun when creating this.

For the remix of 292, Sheffield veteran Tommy Vicari jnr steps in. With releases going as back as 2004, he certainly has the experience to create a new soundscape around a track and that is just what he did with this reinterpretation. A more deep and serious approach here by Tommy and it creates the perfect contrast.
