Începând cu luna februarie, Art Yourself susține o serie de proiecții săptămânale pe tema expoziției din luna respectivă.
Tema lunii februarie este RED. În fiecare vineri seara. Intrare libera.
RED a colorat istoria filmului prin asocierile vizuale și culturale la care acesta face trimitere. Numeroși realizatori au ales tonalitatea roșului pentru a reda prin imagine starea de intensitate, spontaneitate și nebunie pe care o transmite culoarea. La nivel narativ, aceștia s-au jucat și cu asocierile culturale care corespund culorii, cum ar fi iubirea, pasiunea dar și pericolul și anumite ideologii.
MATADOR (Pedro Almodovar, 1986) – 06.02.2015, 18:00
WILD AT HEART (David Lynch, 1990) – 06.02.2015, 20:00
Primul grup de filme, MATADOR de Pedro Almodovar și WILD AT HEART al lui David Lynch, reflectă modul prin care, la nivel vizual și narativ, realizatorii s-au folosit de roșu pentru a reda legatura dintre iubire, pasiune și nebunie sau chiar moarte.

HEARTS OF DARKNESS (Fax Bahr, George Hickenlooper, Eleanor Coppola, 1991) – 13.02. 2015, 20:30
A doua grupa, din care fac parte LA CHINOISE al lui Jean-Luc Godard și documentarul HEARTS OF DARKNESS de Fax Bahr, George Hickenlooper și Eleanor Coppola, se axează pe interpretarea legaturii roșului cu ideologia comunistă. Dacă Godard este dezamăgit cu măsura în care a fost pusă în practică și întelesă ideologia în Occident, HEARTS OF DARKNESS urmărește partea ‘practică’ a realizării filmului APOCALYPSE NOW despre războiul din Vietnam, subliinind modul în care Francis Ford Coppola a fost cuprins de iluzia că “acesta nu este un film despre Vietnam, este însuși Vietnamul”.
THE SHINING (Stanley Kubrick, 1980) – 20.02.2015, 18:00
DEEP RED (Dario Argento, 1975) – 20.02.2015, 20:15
Seria nu se putea lipsi de o grupa în care sângele să fie însuși un personaj prinicipal; apariția acestuia în THE SHINING al lui Stanley Kubrick și în DEEP RED, semnat de regizorul cult al filmului horror, Dario Argento, conduce însă cele două filme pe căi diferite.

UNDER THE SKIN (Jonathan Glazer, 2013) – 27.02.2015, 20:30
Ultima pereche explorează evoluția femeii fatale (cu al ei ruj roșu) în istoria filmului. Dacă Alfred Hitchcock este cunoscut pentru personajele femeii fatale inițial amenințatoare care înspre sfârșit este îmblânzită/ calmată/ pedepsită, modelul acesta aplicându-se și în cazul lui MARNIE, Jonathan Glazer are o altă viziune asupra personajului jucat de Scarlett Johansson în UNDER THE SKIN.
Proiecțiile sunt organizate cu sprijinul distribuitorilor de film Pro Rom și Ro Image și de Innova Interiorism.

RED has coloured film history with its rich visual and cultural connotations. The colour’s vibrancy and intensity has led filmmakers to tint the image itself in order to create mood, to convey a sense of madness and spontaneity. At the same time, at the narrative level, filmmakers have played with the colour’s cultural associations of love, passion but also danger and ideology, turning red into their very own shade of red.

The first group of films, Pedro Almodovar’s MATADOR and David Lynch’s WILD AT HEART, reflects the way in which red can be used visually and narratively to underscore this tendency of love and passion spilling over into madness and danger.

HEARTS OF DARKNESS (Fax Bahr, George Hickenlooper, Eleanor Coppola, 1991) – 13.02. 2015, 20:30
The second batch, Jean-Luc Godard’s LA CHINOISE and Fax Bahr’s, George Hickenlooper & Eleanor Coppola’s HEARTS OF DARKNESS, looks at the colour’s historical ties to Communism. While Godard is disillusioned with the practical repercussions of the Communist ideology in 1960’s Western Europe, HEARTS OF DARKNESS documents the ‘practicalities’ of shooting APOCALYPSE NOW, the legendary film about the Vietnam War, as Francis Ford Coppola falls into the illusion that “this is not a film about Vietnam, this is Vietnam”.

DEEP RED (Dario Argento, 1975) – 20.02.2015, 20:15
The series couldn’t have gone without a group in which blood is a centerpiece; while it features in both Stanley Kubrick’s THE SHINING and Dario Argento’s DEEP RED, the two work with it to different effects.
MARNIE (Alfred Hitchcock, 1964) – 27. 02. 2015, 18:00
UNDER THE SKIN (Jonathan Glazer, 2013) – 27.02.2015, 20:30
The fourth set looks at how the femme fatale (and her red lipstick) has evolved in film. While Alfred Hitchcock has been known for creating threatening female leads that are eventually tamed, as is the case in MARNIE, Jonathan Glazer has a different plan for Scarlett Johansson’s part in UNDER THE SKIN.
The screenings are supported by Pro Rom and Ro Image film distributors and Innova Interiorism.
