After the amazing experience with Jessie Evans live, Voodooville returns on 7th of June for a last night of extravaganza before the summer break. Ladies and gents, for the closing night of Modern, we give you the cult band from Russia, spy-surf-horror space cadets Messer Chups!
Welcome in a world of surf, beats, film samples, scratchy historical recordings, lounge and cartoon sounds from the 50′s and 60′s. Welcome in a full sci-fi experience combining video from trash cult movies, Italian slasher films, and pulp fiction bits layered by brain master Oleg Gitarkin over weird keyboard chirps and groovy horn loops.
Messer Chup’s background goes far back in the past, with over 16 releases under this moniker and 16 more under Messer fuer Frau Mueller (Gitarkin’s old project together with sound wizard Oleg Kostrow). If neither of the two names appears in your iTunes, it may (seriously!) be that you don’t believe in magic. Or come show us different!
