“I met Stefan Tiron at a “Cocktail Robotics” festival, where mad inventors exhibit crazed liquorbots, in Vienna in 2005. The Romanian comics impressario was artist-in-residence at the Monochrom space in Vienna–an eclectic home to many pranky, funny, Net-inspired pop-culture antics–and he had something truly extraordinary to show me: Manga, a paperback-sized “fanzine” produced by the budding Romanian manga (Japanese-style comics) fandom scene.
