VA – Orbiter II – Review [Moon Harbour]

VA- Orbiter II

Established back in 2000 by Matthias Tanzmann, Moon Harbour has lasted the test of time and has grown into a juggernaut record label. A leader, not a follower in terms of dance oriented electronic music, Moon Harbour can showcase an impressive back catalogue that has been build on the vision of the head honcho himself since the very beginning. The label is also seen as a launch platform for new upcoming artists that have a definite rhythm in their blood and astonish from their earliest release.

After a successful Orbiter VA, Moon Harbour reinforced their vision towards their releases and also made a claim with regards to the label’s position in the dance music industry. Now, following up with Orbiter II, the VA series are seen as a trademark as it puts emphasis on established artists as well as on talented newcomers.

Kicking things off, the German super duo Super Flu cooks up “Do Ex”. A stringy deep house track, that rolls through the seven minutes with female samples and lovely allegory of piano notes when the track breaks. Following up is Nico Cabeza with “Rocambolesco”, a very unfamiliar name for such a familiar set of sounds. The track is a fuse of tom drums and a down pitch vocal. It’s like a track you knew before you even heard it! Anek’s “Work My Body” is a down to dance floor tech house banger, with a chunky bass line and thumping kick drums that leave no place for the intention of the track. Closing things off are Chris Wood & Meat with “That’s Fresh”. A tribally grooves with an excessive attraction towards congas and sketches of vinyl sounds throughout the track.
